The grades

The method
Point at anything wild. Birds, plants, fungi, insects, mammals, reptiles, amphibians and fish all count the same.
Season, range and local reporting frequency set the rarity at the instant of capture, not afterwards.
The card is minted with that grade and never regraded, however common the species later becomes.
